The Provençal Colorado

This beautiful place, in the “Massif des Ocres” of the Luberon, is due by the creation by nature and man made! At Rustrel the exploitation of pigments started at the end of the XIX century. They extracted from earth the precious pigments creating thousands of colors and creating a landscape plenty of fantastic forms.
The small pads, between communal roads and private properties, cut in small valleys, long cliffs, the Sahara, chimneys of fairy tales, …..
The walks of 1 to 5,5 km with difference in height of 10 to 150 meters, this Colorado invités for walking or tracking.
On this site you will find the rests of man-craft, bassins for décantation , canalisations, pumps, fire places, private site, the chapel “Notre dame des Anges”, and the little colored river, called Doa.

The mount Ventoux
